UnSolid oder ich kann kein APFS nie nicht leiden

Der "Gefällt mir" ist nicht dafür das Mojave das macht, sondern auf deine Antwort. Immer wieder cool geschrieben.

Mit Mojave ist aber auch der fsck weg - also ein Grund weniger, noch auf HFS+ zu setzen. Ich nehme im Moment sogar schon die längere Startzeit in Kauf, denn das Handling von sehr vielen, sehr kleinen Dateien gehr mit APFS schon jetzt DEUTLICH schneller. Wobei ich finde, dass Apple nur die Systemplatte konvertieren sollte - USB-Sticks schonmal gar nicht.

Es wird doch nur das Startvolume im Installationsvorgang entsprechend formatiert, oder habe ich nur Glück? Meine Mojave-Installation ist das einzige APFS-Volume von vielen Volumes im Rechner, die blieben bisher unangetastet auf HFS+. Alles andere würde ich auch nicht verstehen.

High Sierra als Vergleich:

--applicationpath, a path to copy of the OS installer application to start the install with.

--converttoapfs, specify either YES or NO on if you wish to convert to APFS.

Ebenfalls sollte es nicht mehr möglich sein über das vortäuschen einer HDD, HFS zu erzwingen.

Das ganze ist vielleicht wegen dem fsck nicht mehr so wichtig, bei NVRam Resets ist APFS aber leider nach wie vor ein blödes Thema, vor allen hinsichtlich Ozmosis.

Tschuldige aber was is das nochmal für ne Datei?
es gaukelt dem System vor das ich ne HDD habe statt einer SSD oder?
Wenn ich diesen Kext weglasse, startet der Rechner dann nicht mehr oder wie ist das gemeint?

Betrifft nur 10.13.x.
Diese Kext verhindert, dass bei Updates oder Erstinstallation von macOS die Systemplatte automatisch in APFS gewandelt wird, es bleibt beim altbekannten HFS+. Wenn dir das nix sagt, brauchst du es nicht …

Frage weil ich ihn mal beim Booten rausgeschmissen habe und erstartet nun schneller iwie. Aber richtig schneller!

Wenn du noch ein paar Kexte rauswirfst, wird es noch schneller …

habt ihr das mal probiert???? Unter HS ging das jedenfalls, wie geschmiert,,, auch ohne unsolid.kext..

Oder es startet garnicht mehr (lilu+weg). ein Muss bei mir..leider..

Mit Mojave kommt APFS für alle.

du wolltest zum damaligen Zeitpunkt keinen Quellcode rausgeben. Wärst du dazu inzwischen bereit?

Ich würde gerne schauen, ob ich dein kext für meine Zwecke anpassen kann, um so die Modellbezeichnung einer virtuellen Platte in einer VM zu ändern. Das Problem habe ich unter App in Parallels VM fragt um Aktivierung nach Wechsel HDD –> SSD näher beschrieben.
