Why? This Notebook Supports uefi, and it's better to use uefi than legacy..

It Would be better to find out, Why it doesn't work. Can you explain, what happens when you Boot it in uefi Mode? Bios settings? Which efi?

When I install any system in UEFI mode the notebook shuts down, it only works in legacy mode. Some problem in the bios. I am using the hp 840 g1 EFI.

Does it also shut down with opencore?

yes, it turns off with opencore and clover. but in legacy mode no. is there any way to convert the Elitebook 840 G1 EFI to legacy?

I'm upgrading kexts and OC 0.7.3 for my HP840G3.

Now my touchpad is not working. Any suggestion where I should check ?

Installation

1. Add the required kexts to your bootloader
2. Make sure VoodooPS2 is configured as below:
   • Enabled:
     • VoodooPS2Controller.kext
     • VoodooPS2Controller.kext/Contents/PlugIns/VoodooPS2Mouse.kext
     • VoodooPS2Controller.kext/Contents/PlugIns/VoodooPS2Keyboard.kext
     • VoodooPS2Controller.kext/Contents/PlugIns/VoodooPS2Trackpad.kext
   • Disabled:
     • VoodooPS2Controller.kext/Contents/PlugIns/VoodooInput.kext
3. For OpenCore users, make sure to add the below kexts in the order they're listed into your config.plist.
   • VoodooRMI.kext
   • VoodooRMI.kext/Contents/PlugIns/VoodooInput.kext
   • SMBus trackpads:
     • VoodooSMBus.kext
     • VoodooRMI.kext/Contents/PlugIns/RMISMBus.kext
   • I2C trackpads:
     • VoodooI2C.kext
     • VoodooRMI.kext/Contents/PlugIns/RMII2C.kext

There is no support for this kext being loaded into Library/Extensions or System/Library/Extensions. This likely won't break loading it, but test with injection first before sending in a bug report.

just tested the order you have suggested. I didn’t add the part:

• VoodooI2C.kext
• VoodooRMI.kext / Sommaire / PlugIns / RMII2C.kext

The HP 840G3 now can have the trackpad working but the click is not active.

How do I know if My hardware is SMBUS or I2C ? Or should I add both parts ?

Thanks for all the instructions. my HP EliteBook 840G3 is working perfectly in BigSur, with keyboard light, cam, wifi, battery...with latest OpenCore 0.7.3 and kexts.

What should I improve ? 0.7.4 ?
