Hi all,
Intending to migrate from Ozmosis to Opencore to run on Big Sur or Monterey, I would like to know if it is possible to extract the compressed file "OzmosisDefaults" and convert it to plist to integrate it into the EFI partition of my system disk.
Also, could I know how to prepare my Gigabyte Z77-D3H.23b Rev.1.0 rom to load my new configuration without problem?
If any of you would be kind enough to give me a hand, that would be great.
Thank you in advance for your help.

hello supergg12 ,
at first- we have to know, wich revision of the mainboard are you using- the 1.0, 1.1 or the 1.2 revision?
I've prepared an current version of the bios, you can use. of curse oz will be gone- and you have to build an efi, with the help of the helpers here no doubt. so no reason to sorrow
i've told to an oz user and it seems to be that you have to reflash your bios with the origin bios - after that you could flash one of the following bios nvme-mod-ubu-current
edit- bios follows after it's known wich revision were used

Hi Apfel-Baum,
Thanks for your return.
I indicated the revision of my motherboard in my previous post (Rev.1.0).
I don't quite understand where to find the current version of my bios that you have prepared.
Reflashing my bios using my original bios is not a problem; however, i dont see what you call one of the nvme-mod-ubu-current bios?
You would be nice to help me please!
Yours truly. -
you've answered the most imported thing - your board revision is "1.0" that is important because there 3 versions, about 2 different version exists. ok, the dualbiosfeature is well, but it is easier to flash the right one.
so, the current version- an old one will be at the gigabyte website- but that is not necessary to take a look for.
i've prepeared a current a bit modded bios for your board,- the nvme-ubu-mod is a bios that allows you to put an nvme ssd via an pci-e adapter in your pci-e slot -and of course use it, ubu stands for "u-efi b-ios u-pdater" based on its thread at the win-raid forum.
so it is the most current possible -mod-version of your bios.
if you want i'll upload it in the thread so you are able to flash it by your self-
the provedure will be:
edit -first prepare an stick with a efi
edit- second -flash the current origin bios -
edit third flash the nvme-ubu-mod -
thats all : ready to go
edit- have you prepared an usb-stick with monterey already?
edit 2 does a efi-partition exist at your current system?
edit 3- you can use the added basic efi for the usb-stick-it should run with your board and your current hw-setting-,-you know how to prepare a efi-bootstick?
-
No need to worry about finding my original bios; I saved it. So I can restore it without difficulty.
As for the new version of bios that you propose: nvme-ubu-mod; do i have to have an nvme ssd drive? or can i still continue to work with my current ssd?
And does this bios already have the correct parameters to start OC?
I think it will also be appropriate to rearrange the efi partition with the correct settings? and which ones?
I know ... I am a burden ... -
you can use the added efi from the post before it is already opencore and should run with your board, and of course- there ist no need fpr an nvme-ssd to run osx-you can still use your s-ata or m-sata ,ssd, or even hdd , it's just an option for the "future-use" with your board, if you want.
i add an biospack with an order 1-3 to flash
1th the unmodded current bios, 2nd the ubu-modded one
and 3rd the nvme-and others mod.
greets
edit i don't know what are the keyboard-layout currently were, so it's en-us, you have change it later in the efi -config.plist
-
Thank you very much for this successful work.
But could you answer me concerning the previously mentioned question:"I think it will also be appropriate to rearrange the efi partition with the correct settings? and which ones?"
kexts ? dsdt ? ssdt ? or others ?
and thank you again
-
questions:
- nvme-ubu-mod; do i have to have an nvme ssd drive? or can i still continue to work with my current ssd?
- And does this bios already have the correct parameters to start OC?
- I think it will also be appropriate to rearrange the efi partition with the correct settings?
- and which ones?
answers:
- you have not to use an nvme drive to use your current installation of osx further - and could still use your current ssd.
- the bios does not have the the correct parameters it is just the origin one without edited settings
- i think you have not to rearrange the efi-partition
- same as 3.
- the correct biossetting will be something like ahci, csm-disabled, they are at the forum or maybe in the dortonia guide - edit2 - 1.3 Installationsvorbereitungen --edit of course the boot-order, boot from the ssd wich contains the efi-folder - you've transfered from the stick to the efi-partition
-
As I understand it, I am not creating a new "OC" folder in the EFI partition?
-
i've already make the settings of the kext-order, maybe if you put more kext to the efi the order maybe changed, but atm it should run as it is- no need to rearrange it , it's able to use and install monterey but it should be maybe recommend to make the usb-mapping before updating to big sur or monterey

q:- As I understand it, I am not creating a new "OC" folder in the EFI partition?
a:- yes, you have not to create one- you use and transfer the efi-folder in post 4 "supergg12-EFI.zip" that i've added here in the thread
-
Ok that's very nice.
I will launch the complete procedure and come back to keep you informed of the result.
Everything will be alright.
Now get to work! -
have you already download the efi?
-
Can you tell me which one to download please? Thank you.
-
that one (efi) , wich is named " supergg12-efi-zip " is the right one and "only" efi in this thread
put the efi folder to the partition, - the folder already contains the "oc" and "boot" folders
-
Great ! I am busy doing the job.
-
with your current hardware config you are able to use, big-sur, monterey - i've an similar configuration here
-
Hi Apfel-Baum,
Yesterday I installed 10.16.1 (Big Sur).
System loading is much faster than under OZ. Only downside perhaps, the verbose mode.
For unresolved issues:
- no internet nor RJ45 (Atheros AR8151), nor Wifi (Dlink DWA-121 Wireless N150 dongle),
- two usb3 ports missing - EJ168.Is there a fairly easy way to inject the new kexts if needed into the OC environment?
Thank you for your contribution.
-
hello supergg12 ,
you have an different nic card as like the z77-d"s"3h ,so the results- try the current efi from today, mabe it works- replace the folder with the current one -or one by one, the oc and the boot-folder
greets
edit- the verbosemode is still important, if your system will work correctly, you're able to disable it by yourself,- it is just an bootargument inside the config.plist
-
Hello Apfel-Baum,
Where is the current efi from today please ?
Thanks
-
i have just uploaded it, it is the superegg12-2911-2021-efi.zip attached to the post above yours
